Cut It Out

How does a worm get inside an apple? Perhaps you think the worm burrows in from the outside. No, scientists have discovered that the worm comes from inside. But how does he get in there? Simple! An insect lays an egg in the apple blossom. Sometime later, the worm hatches in the heart of the apple, then eats his way out. Sin, like the worm, begins in the heart and works out through a person’s thoughts, words, and actions.

When you open an apple and discover the work of the worm, the only way to make the apple palatable is to cut the apple open and cut out the area where the worm lives and/or has been burrowing.

The only way to make the human being acceptable to God is to remove the worm of sin and it’s affected areas through the work of Jesus Christ on the cross. His death took our place and his shed blood removed the sin within all who have surrendered their lives to Jesus Christ for forgiveness. Satan uses our sin nature to plant his influence from birth.

1 John 1:9 tells the Christian that to have sin completely forgiven we must confess it to him and he will fully cleanse and remove the guilt and sin through total forgiveness.

As someone once said:

SIN WILL:
1. TAKE YOU FARTHER THAN YOU PLANNED ON GOING.
2. KEEP YOU LONGER THAN YOU PLANNED ON STAYING
3. COST YOU MORE THAN YOU PLANNED ON PAYING.

This Sunday I will present a message titled The Disfunction of Sin based on Matthew 14:1-12. We will examine how sin can destroy a family, a relationship and a life and how God can cut it out.
